What is obesity
Obesity is  a medical condition that occurs when a person carries excess weight or body fat that might affect their health or body. Or a condition that is associated with having  an excess amount of body fat, defined by genetics and environmental factors that are difficult to control when dieting. It is classified as having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater. BMI is a tool used to measure obesity.

   Choose mainly processed whole food.
  • Whole grains (whole wheat, steel cut oat, brown rice, quinoa).
  • Vegetables (a colourful variety- not potatoes).
  • Whole fruit (not fruit juices).
  • Nuts, seeds, beans, and other healthful sources of protein (fish and poultry).
  • Plant oils (olive and other vegetable oils).
  •    Drink water or other beverages that are naturally calorie-free.

  • Sugar-sweetened beverages (soda, fruit, drinks, sports drinks).
  • Fruit juice(no more than a small amount per day).
  • Refined grains (white bread, white rice, white potatoes) and sweets.
  • Potatoes (baked or fried).
  • Red meat (beef, pork, lamb) and processed meats (salami, ham, bacon, sausage).
  • Other highly processed foods such as fast food.
